Amy Gallow brings us a wonderful story set down under in Australia.
Ruth Lambert is a stockbroker associate for Andrew McLeod and Partners. She has been working hard to attain her goal of being a partner in the firm, but she has completion for the spot. She is not the only one that wants the partnership; Alistair Hughes wants it as well.
When she takes a holiday on a cruise ship called the Asiatic Princess she meets Matthew Parker, the ships chief engineer. They meet on the last day that she is going to be aboard. In just the few hours that they have to get to know each other they each seem to feel something strong for the other one. There is a strong pull between them. They agree to have a rendezvous that evening but before they can complete it he is called away because the ship is having engine problems again. They both leave notes for each other but neither one receives them.
Five years later they come across each other’s path again in a hotel bar when she is at a conference. They decide to go to dinner together to catch up on the last five years. While talking, they both agree something very wonderful happened that night, and it would be a pity to pass it up. So they decide to try again. They find out that there is an even stronger pull now than before. Matthew decides to take her sight seeing before she goes home. While flying Ruth around in the helicopter they are asked to do a rescue mission for a stranded group. Instead of taking them out in two trips as planned, Matthew has to take them out in one because of the flood serge headed for them. This gets the newspapers attention and so the senior partners hear of it as well. They are upset that their future partner has put herself in danger.
Ruth starts to feel like things may not be all that they seem with Matthew in the weeks that follow, by his actions and strange things that happen around her. Is Matthew exactly what he claims to be? Is he involved in shady dealings and does he love her as well?
