Jake's intent was to make sure he took care of his brother's problems once again. However, once he meets Rebecca, he wants her to be his problem. She may have had his brother’s child but it soon becomes obvious that she was meant to be his.
This was a really good read. Despite its short length(118 pages), I was able to fully enjoy the story from beginning to end without feeling like the author was rushed. Jake McCallan was an excellent hero and even though he's the Alpha for his pack, he was able to show Rebecca his softer side. I'm a huge fan of shifter novels and Lorenz easily drew me into this small town and the world of wolves. Trey wasn't exactly a villain in this but he sure made some poor decisions. Jake and Rebecca were a lot nicer than I would have been. There was action aplenty as the stalker/hitman tries to kill Rebecca but it was the steamy love scenes that held my attention. I would love to know more about Jake's best friend and his sister who was absent though mentioned in this novella. The author leaves readers with a nice HEA for Jake and Rebecca and an interesting cliffhanger for Trey. A solid 4 in my book
Paranormal/Werewolves
The McCallans of central Louisiana are rich and powerful. They’re also werewolves.
Jake McCallan is the owner of McCallan Lumber and the alpha male of their small pack. His sister Tori has left to find her own life away from weres and his younger brother Trey is nothing but trouble. When Trey shows up and tells Jake about fathering a child during a one night stand, Jake throws Trey out of the pack. Then Jake tries to make it right with the mother.
Rebecca Miller has no intention of letting any McCallan run her life or her son’s, but when she meets Jake, he stirs something deep inside her, something she doesn’t want to acknowledge.
But Jake knows the truth the first time he meets the beautiful single mom.
Rebecca is his lifemate, the one woman meant for him, and she’s as drawn to him as he is to her.
And she’s had his brother’s baby.
If that’s not bad enough, while drunk, Trey’s hired a stranger to kill Rebecca and the child.
When several attempts to kill Rebecca fail, it’s up to Jake to protect his mate, even if he has to kill his brother to do it.
