Young American antiquarian Gwen Gardner is working for client Malcom Parker at Caer Dyas Castle in Wales. He hired her to catalogue a collection of items at his eight hundred year old medieval Welsh castle. While working with her assistant Susan, she can’t help but notice that things have recently been misplaced. When she looks for these items, she finds them in the strangest places. Not believing in the ghost stories that keep being brought up, she tries to rationalize a decent enough reason why things keep disappearing on her.

While cataloguing some of the antiques in the castle she hears a noise close by her that makes her and Susan wonder what it could be. The owner is away in London and the only people that are there are her assistant and herself. As she starts walking to where she heard the third noise now, she can’t help but notice that Malcom has returned from his trip early and has company with him. As she looks for Malcom to see if everything is okay since he returned earlier than planned, she happens to stumble upon a man standing in the display room. Seeing that it wasn’t Malcom, she approaches cautiously to find out who this man is that seems to have a liking to one of the swords, actually the sword that everyone knows used to belong to the warrior of the castle, Kian. Yelling at him to drop the sword, Gwen is shocked to find out that it happens to be her ex-boyfriend, Collin Morgan. What is she to do now that she is face to face with the man who ripped her heart out and never looked back?

You see, three years ago Gwen and Collin had a hot affair just before he and his Royal Army unit were deployed to Iraq. In the middle of the night he up and left never contacting Gwen afterward as to where he was or how he could be contacted. It tore her apart because she thought he was the one, but as she found out, she was only played for the fool. Now seeing him stand before her just seems to rip her heart out all over again.

She just can’t seem to come up with a reason as to why he should be there in Malcom’s castle. How is she suppose to act now that her heart is in her throat and the gorgeous guy she had fallen for three years ago is very much in the flesh standing before her?

What is Collin doing in Malcom’s castle? How does he react when he sees Gwen for the first time now that three years have passed? Do they get the opportunity to discuss what happened or do they avoid each other at all cost? What comes out of all the strange occurrences and stories Gwen and Susan keep hearing about while working at the Welsh castle?

I just adored this story. I was pulled in from the very first page and Ms. Trelawny held my attention until the very end. The storyline was extremely creative and the characters were easy to fall in love with. I felt bad for Gwen with how Collin had treated her three years ago. I thought that there was something special between them, but when he up and left for his deployment without so much as saying a goodbye, I thought she was better off without him. As I got to know Collin and learned his motive for leaving without saying goodbye to her, I understood more fully why he reacted the way he did that night. I found myself rooting for them to work things out now and see if there was still something between them that was worth salvaging. Ms. Trelawny is a masterful storyteller and she knows how to keep you engrossed the entire time you’re reading her story. This is a story that I would highly recommend and it’s a keeper in my library. I’m definitely interested in reading more from this author in the near future.

A medieval warrior returns from battle with one thought—to bed his bride. But on the brink of consummation, lightning strikes, imprisoning his lusty spirit in his own sword.

Eight centuries later, another lightning bolt releases him into modern-day war vet Collin Morgan. The warrior’s hot blood not only cures Collin’s war-induced impotence, it drives him to bed his former lover Gwen Gardner when they meet by chance at the medieval castle.

Collin broke Gwen’s heart years ago and she resists his spirited seductions—at first. But when electrical storms give the ghost command of his body, Collin becomes a tantalizing seducer whose new techniques stir Gwen’s desires beyond her control. She surrenders her body and her heart.

But the warrior’s spirit is not the only one haunting the castle, and when this new danger threatens, whose soul will survive?
