Faith Daniels was someone who not only was awarded Nurse of the Year at Deerborne County General Hospital, but also was ambitious enough to want to be a doctor herself. She studied for months on end and gave up having anything that resembled a fun life to dedicate herself to getting good grades on her MCAT exam. The only problem was, no matter how smart she was or how much she studied; she failed at her first attempt at being accepted into medical school because of an extremely bad case of testing anxiety. Heart Surgeon Stone Lassiter started working at Deerborne County General Hospital because he wanted to make a difference. Unfortunately, everyone on the hospital staff hated working for him because he had a severe attitude problem with them – especially with the nursing staff. Ironically enough though, there was something about Faith that caught his eye, but neither one was in any position to start a relationship up at the time. For Faith, it had been five years since her divorce to an unfaithful husband who allowed her to pay for law school for him and after he passed his bar exam, left her and took the remaining money out of their bank account. Since then she hadn’t trusted another man to even try to get remotely close to her. Stone, on the other hand, was bitter because his beloved Debbie died from heart complications. It had been two years for him and he vowed he was going to keep the promise he made to her even if it killed him. What promise did Stone make to Debbie on her deathbed? Did Faith ever pass her MCAT exam? If so, how did she finally get past her test anxiety? Did Stone have anything to do with it? Did anything ever happen between Faith and Stone? I absolutely adored this story by Ms. Grieve. It was well written and extremely entertaining. She had me pulled in immediately when all the nurses were pulling their straws to see who the unlucky one was going to be who had to work with Dr. Lassiter. She kept me interested throughout the story by all the antics that Faith and Stone were doing to each other and I laughed out loud at some of the banter they exchanged with each other. The characters were extremely believable and the story was smooth flowing straight until the end. I would definitely recommend this medical romance story to others to read and I anxiously await more stories from Ms. Grieve. Fantastic job!
