Kit a 300-year-old vampire buys an Inn she plans to use as a country retreat. She’s an assassin for her clan and immediately senses a threat around the building. Rysen leader of another clan has come to protect her and claim her. They have a history. 100 years ago Rysen rejected Kit when she was offered to him – he wanted her but didn’t want her as a bargaining chip in a political game. Now she’s ready, he thinks, but he has to prove to her now is their time.

Along with this part of the story Kit and Rysen are threatened by his, thought to be dead, brother.

The characters in Trapped: Blood Claim, appear real and believable centuries old vampires with special abilities. Each are given by the author, personal conflicts which motivate the characters to endure. If the characters were motivated by, and the storyline built more on dialogue the story would draw a 5 rating. The storyline is interesting with a few side conflicts to keep a reader’s interest.

Special Notes:

A pregnant pause? Is it the electric charged pause at the time of conception? Is it the forever, nine month wait for the baby to show its head pause? What does a pregnant pause describe? The use of this phrase terribly disrupts the flow of a story for me. It appears on page 38. There are so many adjectives and/or adverbs available for utilization, so why choose pregnant when even epochal, timeless, passionate, feverish, or intoxicating etc., etc. may better describe a specific situation?

Rysen has always regretted the way he rejected Kit. As much as he loved her, Rysen despised the way her clan tried to use her as a political gambit for power and protection. But he never stopped wanting Kit, trying to make her his in every way possible.

When enemies attack, they use old magic to seal themselves off and stay safe. But now they find themselves trapped with a century of hunger rising between them....
