Karen had a painful crush on Warner Beckett in college.  He even rescued her from two of her tutoring students, further enhancing his white knight image.  But when she went to thank him the next day, he was drunk and had a half-naked girl on his lap.  Hurt and mortified, she ran in the opposite direction and has avoided him since.  For ten years.

Now it is the ten year reunion.  Karen is hosting her former housemates and is having an estimate done to repair the old Victorian she inherited from her aunt.  Who but Warner shows up.  Seems he’s grown up in the past decade, and has set his sights on her.  Having difficulty believing his sincerity or intentions she is hesitant.  But Warner isn’t taking no for an answer.

Warner is the first to admit he was an ass in college.  He deliberately discouraged Karen since he knew he was no good for her.  But he’s changed, and feels he’s now worthy of someone of her caliber and is ready to offer her everything.

Youth and fear.  How many relationships stalled as a result?  This was a delightful little tale of an overdue happily ever after.  We all feel mature in our early twenties, but we aren’t.  It takes life and experience to reveal our true selves.  When Warner reaches a place where he likes himself he goes after the one woman he couldn’t forget.  And fortunately, even though she’s skittish, she’s willing to be caught.  A hot quick read.
