Verity Durant is as famous for the delicious food she creates, and infamous for a scandal of her past.  Stuart Somerset is fast rising politician, who cannot risk a smear against his good name, though once, ten years earlier, he was tempted by a glorious night with a stranger.   Can two people so different find the passion of the past, and bring it forward into the future, without destroying each other?
I found DELICIOUOUS to be a fascinating tale written in a very eloquent style.  Sherry Thomas successfully uses profoundly erotic and seductive descriptions of food as a way to explore the emotions between Stuart and Verity.  I am disappointed though, that  she did not put more emphasis on the characters' interactions themselves.  Stuart and Verity didn't even come face to face until halfway through the book.  Sure there were a few flashbacks of the one night they'd shared together in the past, but I really like to see more present-tense interaction between the hero/heroine.
The second half of the book finally brought them together, allowing us to finally see there feelings without food descriptions getting in the way, and I found myself absorbed into their storyline, able to finally take my focus off the side characters and food (this book made me hungry...).
There are many scenes in the later parts of this novel that really tugged at my emotions, more that once I felt my eyes welling up with tears, like when it felt as if Verity's son Michael was going to dismiss her from his life and when Stuart  finally realizes that she is the woman from his past that he couldn't let go, and he feels such anger towards her.  Everything came together well, if a bit dramatic and I was pleased with the conclusion of Stuart's engagement to Lizzy, sure it was a bit hokey, but it was also satisfactory.

Love has a flavor all its own.…
Famous in Paris, infamous in London, Verity Durant is as well-known for her mouthwatering cuisine as for her scandalous love life. But that’s the least of the surprises awaiting her new employer when he arrives at the estate of Fairleigh Park following the unexpected death of his brother.

To him, Verity Durant is just a name and food is just food, until her first dish touches his lips. Only one other time had he felt such pure arousal—a dangerous night of passion with a stranger, a young woman who disappeared at dawn. Ten years is a long time to wait for the main course, but when Verity Durant arrives at his table, there’s only one thing that will satisfy Stuart’s appetite for more. But is his hunger for lust, revenge—or that rarest of delicacies, love? For Verity’s past has a secret that could devour them both even as they reach for the most delicious fruit of all.…

Biography
Sherry Thomas arrived on American soil at age thirteen. Within a year, with whatever English she scraped together and her trusty English-Chinese dictionary by her side, she was already plowing through the 600-page behemoth historical romances of the day. The vocabulary she gleaned from those stories of unquenchable ardor propelled her to great success on the SAT and the GRE and came in very handy when she turned to writing romances herself.
Sherry has a B.S. in economics from Louisiana State University and a master’s degree in accounting from the University of Texas at Austin. She lives in central Texas with her husband and two sons. When she’s not writing, she enjoys reading, playing computer games with her boys, and reading some more.
