Remy Robicheaux has bought a house that seems to already have another resident living there – a ghost. Not knowing what to do himself with this entity, he calls his younger sister and she tells him that Ainsley Brennen, her best friend, does paranormal investigations on the side. Happy that there might be some resolution in sight, he calls for an appointment. When Ainsley shows up with the other investigators, Remy can’t believe just how great she looks. It’s been three years since they last saw each other and he’s regretting that he’s missed out on seeing her for that long.
Ainsley asks about the history of the house and finds out that Remy has bought this house after Katrina and spent a year working on it before he moved in. About halfway through the renovations, he started hearing things like footsteps and a woman crying. Ainsley explains that it sounds like the ghost didn’t like having the place torn up and changed. The crew sets up and starts the investigation, but they aren’t exactly pleased with the lack of results they have. After working for hours, they start to pack up their equipment and everyone leaves except Ainsley. While she and Remy are talking, weird things begin to happen and it seems like the ghost isn’t happy that Ainsley is alone with Remy right now.
Is Ainsley able to record any of this paranormal activity and find out who is haunting Remy’s house? Do they find out why the ghost seems to have the most issues with Remy when he’s alone with a female guest? Are they able to exorcise the ghost or does Remy decide to sell the house?
I thoroughly enjoyed this paranormal story and immediately felt the attraction between Ainsley and Remy. I loved the twists and turns the author threw at me while I was reading and felt my heart racing in my chest numerous times as I was flipping the pages. I had hoped that Ainsley would find the answers she was looking for not only with the haunting, but also with her past feelings for Remy. I easily fell in love with Ainsley because she was smart, pretty and so down to earth. I was a bit hesitant at first with Remy only because he was considered a playboy in certain ways. I didn’t want Ainsley getting her heart broken by him since she always had an attraction for him throughout the years. Because they hadn’t seen each other for the past three years, it seemed that Remy now saw Ainsley differently than he did when they were younger. I had hoped that he matured and wouldn’t see Ainsley as just another conquest to add to his heartbreaking history. I loved the details supplied regarding the ghost and how the spirit came to be just that – a ghost. Overall, this is a fantastic story that’s worth picking up! I think it’ll entertain you as much as it did me and because of this, I’d highly recommend it!
