Hailey Sutherland, along with her sister, Rachel, has returned a few months ago to reclaim their family’s bed and breakfast from the management company they had hired after their parents death five years ago. The management team ran the B&B into obscurity and used up all the cash. The girls know now is the time to take back the control of the B&B and have it in the family’s hands once again.
Working as hard as they possibly could to renovate with the money they had put away, they hope that the calls will start pouring in for wedding and shower bookings that The Sutherland was well known for years ago. The B&B had always been the sought after place to have your party. If only it could be that way again.
Finally being able to get quite a bit of renovating done, they are thrilled to book their first bridal shower since they have taken it over. Granted it’s their friend, Amy Bradford’s bridal shower, but maybe this will strum up the business they’re hoping to get. During Amy’s shower, Hailey produces a deck of cards, The Fate Destiny cards, as one of the games the women play. Each woman is to draw a card and act upon what it has chosen her to do. The party guests are excited to play and Amy chooses her friend Tori to pick the first card. They all follow afterward by picking their own card. The Fate card tells Tori to, “Kick off your shoes and run into the wind.” Next, the Maid of Honor is about to show her card when she receives a call she must take. She passes the card to Hailey and answers her cell. Hailey finds out the card says, “Kiss the first man you see.”
They all head outside for both Tori and Hailey to act out their Fate cards. When they go out there, they see the Navy SEALs conducting their training nearby on the beach. Tori kicks her shoes off and goes running into the wind and smacks right into a gorgeous guy. While the women are all laughing they push Hailey to act out her card. As she looks around, she sets her sights on one of the sexy SEALs. She runs up to him and kisses him. Ironically, neither is prepared for the sparks that fly after that one kiss.
What happens after Hailey kisses the gorgeous Navy SEAL named Nate? Do they act upon the spark they both feel for each other? Could the Fate cards have chosen the man Hailey will spend the rest of her life with?
I found this story to be extremely entertaining and I couldn’t help but fall in love with Nate immediately. I had hoped that Nate was the person who could finally change Hailey’s bad luck with men. I loved how the sparks instantaneously flew with these two and I had hoped that something would happen between them. I’m new to Ms. Monroe’s writing and after reading this story, I’d love to read more of her work. This is definitely one that shouldn’t be passed up!
