We would love to get to know you

Could you please start by telling us a little about yourself?

Hi, Tammie and Night Owl Romance.  Thanks so much for this interview! I’ve always been an avid reader and from the time I was an early teen, I knew I wanted to be an author. I guess it took growing up and experiencing life a little bit more before I was ready to commit myself to writing. I started writing seriously five years ago and sold my first book nine months later.  Now, with over a dozen books in my backlist, I’m thrilled to finally be doing what I always dreamed of—writing full time.

If you could be one of your characters – Who would you be? And why?

Hmmm, I’d probably want to be Jax from A Taste for Revenge. She was so cool with all her vampire hunter weapons and awesome moves.

What’s your favorite genre to read?  

I LOVE urban fantasy and paranormal romance as well as a lot of the new paranormal young adult books out today.  They’re edgy and fun.

Please tell us what you have planned next?

Currently I have two books released in my Scions series.  Scions:Resurrection (Jan ’08) and Scions:Insurrection (May ’08).  The third book in my Scions series, Scions:Revelation, will release Dec ’08.

Who is your perfect hero?  And why?

Hmmm, that’s tough.

In my past books, I’d have to say Duncan Mordoor from A Taste for Control.  He was a sexy, angsty vampire who could just as easily win a battle as he could write the kind of music that would make you melt.

In my most recent books…I’d have to say, Landon from Scions:Insurrection.  Landon was just so tortured by his past (that also involved the heroine) as well as his desire to lead his wolfpack.  He is dedicated, loyal and honorable to the core.  He makes a perfect Alpha hero for Kaitlyn and for his pack.

What do you do for inspiration?

I read other books, watch movies, pay attention to “life” going on around me.  It’s amazing how the smallest thing can inspire my muse.
 
Is there a genre of book you would like to write but haven't yet?

I’d like to write an urban fantasy and an UF young adult as well.
 
Do deadlines help or hinder your muse?

LOL! Deadlines are VERY motivating. They make me work harder and faster the closer they get.

What would you like to tell your readers?

Thank you so much for your continued support in following me as my writing career progresses.
 
What is the best advice you have ever received?

The best advice I’ve ever received is: Start your book where your character’s conflict and your plot conflict collide.
 
Do you outline your books or just start writing?

I used to be a total pantser writer (I wrote by the seat of my pants), but the more stories I wrote, the more complex they became.  Now I have to at least do a top-level outline to keep up with where I’m going (even if I don’t end up following it ;o) ).
