Hello Susan,

The girls of Night Owl Romance are pleased that you have granted us an interview.

We would love to get to know you.

Could you please start by telling us a little about yourself?

I’m originally from London, England. I’ve been writing for what seems like forever. As well as writing fiction, I’m a freelance writer and before that I worked in PR and was a publicist for a publishing company for three years.

If you could be one of your characters – Who would you be? And why?

Niki Webber from Death Likes Me. She plays the drums; I’ve always wanted to play the drums.

What’s your favorite genre to read?

Mystery/romantic suspense

Who or what influences you when you write?

My dad. He passed away almost 13 years ago, but he really encouraged me to get started on my writing and I’d love to think he’s watching me every time I sit at the keyboards. I have two framed cards that hang on the wall by my computer. They’re birthday cards he sent me. In one he wrote, write a good book, the other, happy writing. Those words keep me going even on days when I feel like I’m working on a plot that’s going nowhere.

What do you do on a typical writing day?

Because I’m a freelance writer, I write from about 7 a.m. till 7 p.m. and just take breaks to eat lunch, make dinner, etc. First order of the day, I check my e-mail, keeping my fingers crossed no rejections lurk in the in-box. If I’m working on an article, I’ll be either researching or interviewing sources. And depending on the day, I might be working on content for my Web site A Budget Smart Girl’s Guide to the Universe. I’ll also be marketing myself and sending out queries. From 5 – 7 p.m. I switch to my laptop and work just on my fiction.

Please tell us what you have planned next?

I’m working on three projects right now. Reworking a paranormal romance based on feedback from my editor. A crime novel, plus a contemporary romance.

Purchase Death Likes Me by Susan PalmquistWhat type of book have you always wanted to write?

A great ghost story, something that makes the hair on the back of your neck stand up.

What would you like to tell your readers?

I hope that you get as much enjoyment out of reading my work as I got from creating them. Also, although these are fiction books, that you’ll take away some insight about life after you’re done reading them.

What would be the best way for readers contact you? Do you have a website? Email address? MySpace site? Blog? Message Board? Group?

Yes, it’s www.susanpalmquist.com and you can contact me at skpalmquist@gmail.com.

How can readers find out more about you and your books?

At the above Web site.

Thank you Susan for this opportunity and good luck on your upcoming release from The Wild Rose Press.

Tam
